Shawn Mendes and Martin Guitar Team Up Again — Two New Signature Guitars Support the Shawn Mendes Foundation

Shawn Mendes is deepening his longtime relationship with C.F. Martin & Co., and this time he's bringing double the gear — and a bigger boost for youth-focused charity work.

Shawn Mendes Martin Guitar Partnership: A New Chapter

Mendes has been a devoted Martin player for years, and in 2022 that passion turned into his first-ever signature model, the 000JR-10E Shawn Mendes — a 100% FSC-certified guitar that marked Martin's largest production run of sustainably sourced instruments, paired with a gig bag made from recycled ocean plastic. Now, four years later, the two are back with a bigger release: not one, but two full-size 000 models.

The new pair includes a highly limited Style 28 instrument inspired by his stage guitar, alongside a more accessible, performance-ready acoustic-electric. Together, they're known as the 000-28 Shawn Mendes (limited-edition) and the 000-10E Shawn Mendes.

The Inspiration: A Vintage Find in Brooklyn

The story behind these guitars traces back to a vintage Martin 0-42 that Mendes discovered in a Brooklyn guitar shop — its compact body, pyramid bridge, distinctive pickguard, and slotted-headstock design immediately caught his eye. Martin later built an elaborate stage guitar based on that instrument, which became the blueprint for these two new signature models.

Mendes explained the appeal of Martin instruments simply: "Martin guitars are my first go-to guitar to pick up when I'm making a song. They feel like they have a story in them. They feel like they have songs in them."

He was also intentional about giving fans and fellow musicians options at different levels. "It's super important to me to have more than one option—a more accessible guitar for people and one that is closer to the thing that I play onstage," he said.

Giving Back Through the Shawn Mendes Foundation

As with his first signature model, charity is baked into this release. With the launch of the 000-10E and 000-28 Shawn Mendes, Martin is supporting the Shawn Mendes Foundation and its mission to amplify, empower, and uplift youth changemakers and their work. The Foundation operates as a sponsored program of the Social Impact Fund, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

Mendes founded the Shawn Mendes Foundation in 2019, and its mission has stayed consistent: inspiring young people to learn about causes they care about and empowering them to use their voice, take action, and drive positive change in their communities. The Foundation has previously worked with Martin on initiatives such as the Wonder of Music Program at SickKids Hospital in Toronto, Mendes' hometown, which funds music therapy for young patients.

This release builds on Mendes' history with the brand, which began with the 000JR-10E Shawn Mendes in 2022 and now continues with two full-size signature models inspired by his cherished vintage Martin. For an artist whose career has been inseparable from the acoustic guitar — from busking-style beginnings to multi-platinum hits like "Treat You Better," "Stitches," "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back," "If I Can't Have You," and "Señorita" — the partnership feels like a natural extension of both his artistry and his advocacy.
